How to Log Into Binance After Changing Your Phone

Preparation Before Changing Phones

If you haven't switched phones yet or are planning to, completing the following preparations in advance will save you a lot of trouble.

The most important step is migrating Google Authenticator. On your old phone, open Google Authenticator, tap the menu button in the upper right corner, and select "Transfer Accounts" > "Export Accounts." Check your Binance account entry, then generate a QR code. On your new phone, install Google Authenticator, select "Import Accounts," and scan the QR code from your old phone. Confirm that verification codes generate correctly on the new phone.

If you're using Binance's own Binance Authenticator, the migration method is similar — export the key from the old device and import it on the new one.

Also make sure you remember your Binance account login email and password. If your password is saved in the old phone's browser and you've never manually typed it, be sure to confirm you can remember it or write it down separately before switching phones.

Scenarios After Switching Phones

Scenario 1: You migrated Google Authenticator in advance

This is the smoothest situation. Download the App on your new phone and install the Binance client. Enter your email and password to log in normally. When the system asks for a Google Authenticator code, open Google Authenticator on your new phone and enter the current code. If your phone number hasn't changed, SMS verification codes will work as usual, and the login process is the same as always.

Scenario 2: You forgot to migrate Google Authenticator but still have the old phone

If your old phone still works, follow the steps above to migrate Google Authenticator to the new phone. An even simpler approach is to open the Binance App on the old phone, go to security settings, unbind Google Authenticator, then rebind it on the new phone.

Scenario 3: Old phone is unusable and you have no backup key

This is more complicated but still solvable. On the Binance login page, enter your email and password. When the system asks for the Google Authenticator code, click "Unable to get verification code" or "Security verification unavailable." The system will guide you through an account recovery process, typically requiring you to upload ID document photos, record a facial video, and answer security questions related to your account.

This manual review process usually takes 1 to 3 business days. Once approved, Binance will unbind the old Google Authenticator, and you can rebind with your new phone. However, for security reasons, there may be a 24-to-48-hour withdrawal restriction after unbinding.

Scenario 4: You also changed your phone number

If you changed your phone number at the same time as your device, you'll need to update your bound phone number in addition to handling the Google Authenticator issue. After logging in, go to security settings to change your bound phone number. The process requires verification through your old phone number or email to confirm your identity. If the old number is already deactivated and can't receive verification codes, you'll again need to go through the manual account recovery process.

Long-Term Tips to Minimize Hassle

To avoid the hassle of dealing with this every time you switch phones, we recommend the following practices. When binding Google Authenticator, save the secret key in a secure offline location, such as a paper notebook or an encrypted USB drive. This way, regardless of what happens to your phone, you can quickly restore the authenticator.

Also enable email verification as a backup method. Email isn't tied to any specific device and can be accessed from any browser. Make sure your email itself also has adequate security protection with two-factor authentication enabled.

Keep your Binance account security information updated promptly. If you change your phone number or email, update it on Binance right away — don't procrastinate.
