How to Create and Use Binance Sub-Accounts
What Are Sub-Accounts and Their Use Cases
Binance sub-accounts are independent trading accounts created under a main account. Each sub-account has its own trading data, API keys, and asset management. Sub-account assets and activities are isolated from the main account and other sub-accounts, but the main account can manage and view all sub-accounts centrally.
Sub-accounts are useful for: multi-strategy trading (separating spot DCA from futures grid trading for clearer PnL), team collaboration (creating accounts for each team member with different permissions), risk isolation (preventing a blown-up high-risk strategy from affecting other accounts), and API management (creating dedicated sub-accounts and API keys for each trading bot).
Creation Steps
Sub-accounts are not available to all users by default. You typically need to complete KYC and reach a certain VIP level or asset threshold. Check the latest requirements at Binance official Help Center.
Once qualified: log in to the Binance web, go to Account Management or Sub-accounts, click Create Sub-account, set an email address (each sub-account needs a unique email), set login credentials, and complete security verification.
After creation, configure permissions for each sub-account: spot trading, futures trading, withdrawal ability, withdrawal address whitelists. Follow the principle of least privilege — only enable what is necessary.
Sub-accounts have independent login access. Sub-account users log in with their own credentials but can only operate within the permissions granted by the main account.
Fund Management and Daily Use
Transfers between sub-accounts and the main account are instant and free. From the main account's sub-account management page, transfer assets to any sub-account or back at any time.
Daily tips: plan fund allocation by strategy and risk level. Regularly check all sub-account activity. Sub-account VIP levels are shared with the main account — trading volumes combine for VIP assessment, and all sub-accounts enjoy the main account's VIP fee discount. Note that sub-accounts typically cannot independently complete KYC or participate in certain events like Launchpad — these functions are main-account only.
