How to Recover a Forgotten Binance Password
Resetting via Email or Phone Number
Forgetting your password is the most common login issue, and Binance provides a convenient self-service reset process.
Open the Binance login page and click the "Forgot Password" link. The system will ask whether you'd like to reset via your registered email or bound phone number. Choose either method and click "Send Verification Code."
If you choose email reset, log into your registered email and find the password reset email from Binance. It will contain a 6-digit verification code or a reset link. Check your spam folder too — sometimes verification emails get flagged as junk. Verification codes typically expire after 30 minutes and need to be resent if expired.
If you choose phone number reset, you'll receive an SMS with a verification code. Enter the code and the system will guide you to a new password setup page.
After entering the verification code and confirming your identity, set your new password. Binance requires passwords to contain at least 8 characters, including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers. We recommend creating a strong password of 12+ characters with special symbols for added complexity. Never reuse a password from another website — this is the most fundamental security principle.
Once the new password is set, you can log in with it. Note that a password reset may trigger a 24-to-48-hour withdrawal restriction — this is Binance's security protection mechanism to prevent account thieves from immediately transferring assets after changing the password.
What to Do When Verification Methods Are Unavailable
Some users face a trickier situation: they can't access their registered email, their phone number has changed, and their verification methods are all unavailable. In this case, account recovery requires manual customer support intervention.
Find the "Help Center" at the bottom of the official Binance website, or go directly to the support page and submit a ticket. In the ticket, describe your situation in detail: what email or phone number was used to register, approximately when you registered, roughly how many assets are in the account, and when you last logged in.
Customer support will typically ask for identity verification materials, including front and back photos of your ID, a selfie holding your ID and a handwritten note with today's date and "Binance Account Recovery." In some cases, you may also need to provide information about the device used during registration or screenshots of historical transactions.
The manual review process usually takes 3 to 7 business days. Once approved, support will help reset your password and security verification methods, allowing you to log in again and set up new security information.
Long-Term Password Management Tips
After recovering your password, consider taking some measures to prevent the same issue from happening again.
Use a password manager to store and manage your passwords. Popular password managers like 1Password and Bitwarden can generate and save complex random passwords — you only need to remember one master password. This ensures every site uses a different strong password without the worry of forgetting any of them.
Keep an offline backup of your password in a secure location. This could be written on paper locked in a safe or stored on an encrypted USB drive. Both electronic and paper backups have their pros and cons — ideally, maintain both.
Regularly updating your password is also a good habit. Changing your Binance password every three to six months effectively reduces the risk of damage from a compromised password. There will be a brief withdrawal restriction after each change, but this small inconvenience trades for greater security.
